How to Link an interface with a component
Post from Don Kittle as a guest
---

I cannot figure out how to link an interface with a component.

I create a new component diagram. I add a new component, then I add a new interface. There is no "link" option in the toolbar. The only thing I can do is create a dependency between them, but that is not the correct notation. Has anyone figured out how to do this?

Thanks, Don

Hi Don,

To draw a line between component and interface.

1. Select [Realization] arrow in the toolbar.

2. Select a component then draw a line toward the target interface.
*The line cannot be completed if you click the interface first.

3. Complete

Did it work?

Thank you SO much! I have been starting with the interface so it would not complete.

I am glad it helped you.

You must have received this alert saying "Invalid Realization relationship" when trying to draw a realization line starting off the interface.

We will change this alert more specific so users would know how to draw Realization relationship line correctly when they get an alert.

Thanks for your post.
