Re: .deb version gets stuck at installation on Ubuntu
You're partly right onway2, when I installed astah community on the new computer, I still needed a little twist especially with Java.

Basically the description on official site works.
http://astah.net/faq/uml/how-to-run-astah-on-linux#apt

However, if your computer doesn't have Sun Java yet, you need to install it by following (for Debian/Ubuntu):
http://www.clickonf5.org/7777/how-install-sun-java-ubuntu-1004-lts/

Environment checked) Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04Quote:

do not follow the official website absolutely.
according to my experience,you may:

1,download and install java environment follow the process of redhat linux.
here is the link to oracle java:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u27-download-440405.html

2,configuration java environment follow the process of debian linux.

3,install astah-community using zip file.

so it won't appear the problems about java version, authentication, dependency and so on.
good luck!
