[TIPS] Use [Map View] when your diagram gets bigger
When you are working on large scale of diagrams, try [Map View] while editing models.

When your diagram gets bigger, you would be zooming in/out the diagram a lot. However when you zoom out, it could make it harder to select models you want to modify as the knobs of models get smaller. When you zoom in, it could get easier to lose where you are on the diagram.
That's when [Map View] comes handy because you can do the same without these issues.

How to use [Map View]

1. Select [Map] tab in the top left pane of Astah.

2. It displays the whole diagram with the light blue box which is a range that is currently shown in the Diagram Editor.

So what you can do with it is directly select the area you want to see in the diagram editor scaled up. Right-drag to cover the area you want to see in the editor, and you can move the blue box by dragging, so the diagram in the editor moves accordingly.

In this way, you can see and work on specific models in large diagram with seeing the big picture and knowing exactly where you are easily. This can be more effective way to zoom in/out diagrams when your diagram gets bigger.

Cheers,
SJ
